Mort Meskin, now completely forgotten, was one of the skilled
craftsmen—not a genius, certainly—of comics from the 1950s until the mid-1960s,
when he abandoned it to work in the much more lucrative advertising industry.
In the 1950s, the best publisher of horror comics was undoubtedly EC Comics,
and upon reflection, arguably the greatest publisher of horror comics in the entire
history of comics. This crown was later seriously challenged by Warren Publishing.
