Atomic Man Complete Collection by FraBig

First 4 stories by Charles Voight, whose semi-comic style I always enjoyed.

The others are by Gil Kane [as Bekay] (signed), who swapped out Atomic Man's skirt for a Speedo

These are from Headline Comics (Prize, 1946).

Atomic-Man is an American fictional superhero created by Charles Voight who appeared in Headline Comics from issue #16 (Nov/Dec 1945) to #21 (Sept/Oct 1946) which were published by Prize Comics. He is often credited for being the first atomic superhero.

Dr. Adam Mann is experimenting with uranium-235 in the aftermath of the first Atomic Bomb being used in Hiroshima. During the experiment he finds himself being subjected to a strange side effect which changes his body. He finds that he has been changed into a new type of being, a being who was not only immune to most lethal radiations but was also immune to electricity,
flame and even bullets.

In addition to the change in his body he also found he now possessed many different powers. These superpowers of his included the ability to see radiations which were previously invisible to normal humans. His right also now also emitted a large amount of Gamma radiation which allowed him to perform a number of superhuman deeds like punching through brick walls using energy blasts and controlling the minds of other people.
When not using his powers he wore a lead glove in his hand to curtail the powers of radiation so as not to harm others.

Knowing that the element that had given him his powers could and would be used by others for evil he took the identity of Atomic - Man and dedicated himself to fighting those who might who would try to pervert it’s use, along with any other criminals, mad scientists or communists who fell under the glow of his right hand.

The Firefly Complete Collection by FraBig

Here's the complete collection of every appearance of The Firefly, a character published

by MLJ Comics. This collection contains: Top-Notch Comics (1939) #8-#27-

151 Pages

Firefly is a fictional comic book character created by Harry Shorten and
Bob Wood for MLJ Comics in 1940. He first appeared in Top-Notch Comics #8.
Artist Warren King and writer Joe Blair loaned their talents to many
of the Firefly's installments.

The Firefly was the fourth superhero launched by MLJ in the eighth issue of their title Top-Notch Comics. He was a mainstay in Top-Notch Comics until its 28th issue, when MLJ changed its format from a superhero book to a humor book.

The popularity of superheroes waned in the late 1940s. The Firefly has had very few appearances since, although when he did briefly reappear during the sixties in The Mighty Crusaders #4 he had gained the ability to glow brightly like his namesake. As part of the team the character reappeared in the 2000s Archie's Weird Mysteries #3 and 14 and
Tales From Riverdale Digest #27.

Doc Strong Complete Collection by FraBig

Here's the complete collection of every appearance of Doc Strong, a character published
by MLJ Comics. This collection contains: Blue Ribbon Comics (1939) #4-#12.

It’s 2041 and the war that started in Europe in 1939 has never ended, civilization has been reduced to just a small group of people who seem to be doomed to be overrun and destroyed by a barbaric Mongolian horde lead by Lord High Kahn of the Entire Earth, Gustave Ritter.

Civilization’s last hope is Jack “Doc” Strong who has gathered the last few cultured
people including atomic chemist Alice Rayburn, electrical engineer Professor Harrison,
super-strong Swede Sampson Smith, Dr. Henry Davidge MD, mechanical engineer Walter Parker, coward and sometimes traitor geologist Edward Stuyvesant and comedy relief stogy
chomping con-man Stinky and taken them
to an island in the Pacific which they name the Isle of Right.

There they comprise the last best hope to save civilization, their greatest aid being the vast intelligence of the seemingly superhuman Doc Strong and his greatest invention the Shadow Gun which has the power to make shadows solid holding those touching them immobile until Doc reverses the polarity of the gun “disintegrating the shadow.”

Creators
Created by artist Sam Cooper, and who knows what writer, this forgotten comic character
, that seems to be a mix of Doc Savage and Buck Rogers is, by modern standards,
one the more offensively racist strips of the Golden-Age, and that’s saying something.

Add to all that mix the Shadow Gun, giant robots and even Martians
and this is one odd-ball Golden-Age feature.
