Tex. The Lonesome Rider by Joe Kubert & Claudio Nizzi (2005)

American icon Joe Kubert and Italian writer Claudio Nizzi collaborated on the exhilarating western Tex:
The Lonesome Rider
at the turn of the century--and this standalone graphic novel is now available to a wider English-language audience!
Tex hunts down four ruthless killers who massacred a peaceful farming family, using his detective skills, ranger's experience, and brute force to track down his targets! However, each killer is cunning and skilled in his own right! This is the first U.S. edition of a graphic novel that was drawn by Kubert in the early 2000s!

Joe Kubert: Comic Books Are My Destiny

by Graziano Frediani

In 1994, when Claudio Nizzi started working on the dramatic, highly
tense story “The Lonesome Rider,” the intention was to publish this
work not only in Italy but also, within a couple of years,
 in the UnitedStates.
This consideration for a different kind of reader also posed
some additional narrative problems: how can descendants of
Uncle Sam understand (or better: how can they believe in) the
interesting figure of Tex, who is not only a representative of
the white civilization but also, for all purposes, a respected
Chieftain of a Native American tribe?

 And then, there was
Kit Carson: an “old camel,” always complaining but fearless,

who had nothing to do with the real Kit Carson who
went into the annals of the American Frontier as an
astute scout and capable politician, but also as a
cynical mass murderer of Indians. This led to the
decision -— interesting, in any case -- to put the Ranger
on the scene without his pards, a lonesome rider about
whom -- similar to the legendary film character Shane
made famous by Alan Ladd’s strong interpretation --
one doesn’t know where he came from nor where he is
going, but who is ready to face any danger, no matter
where, no matter when, to realize his goal: to bring to justice four bloodthirsty
murderers who brutally slaughtered an innocent girl and her family...
