ReplyDeleteThank you very much! Great idea to put both language versions! Muchas gracias!
ReplyDeleteA huge thank you for all the magnificent contributions to this blog! They're truly fantastic. That said, I'd like to draw your attention to the information regarding Torregrosa as the artist credited for this version of Moby Dick. I haven't been able to find a signature, and 'Torregrosa' might even be a pseudonym. However, I am 100% certain that the true artist is Antonio Pérez-García y Carrillo, who signs his work as Carrillo. His unique artistic style is unmistakable, characterized by loose brushstrokes and bold black washes, with drawings based on sketches taken from the original. In fact, the original plates for this very work are currently available for sale at this link: Moby Dick Original Plates by Carrillo. Seriously, thanks again for such a magnificent blog!
ReplyDeleteHi Mapanare, thank you for your kind words, which give me great encouragement to continue.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the author of Moby-Dick, you're right, it's Carrillo, and Vicente Torregrosa Manrique was the artist of issue 4, "Robin Hood." This is all due to a typo. Sorry for that.
