Alarming Tales (1957-1958) - Compiled by Voltaire57

Harvey Comics was one of his secondary publishing houses as there were
so many in the 50s.
But secondary did not mean unsuccessful.
In this case their main successes came from comics for the youngest
and were called  Casper, the friendly ghost, Wendy the witch or Richie Rich.

These successes did not prevent them from publishing other types of magazines.

The house therefore followed in the footsteps of horror comics
with 4 titles:

Chamber of Chills (1951-1954; 26 #),

Witches Tales (1951-1954; 28 #),

Tomb of Terror (952-954; 16 #)

 Black Cat Mystery (951-1958; 27 #).

Eerie was an American magazine of horror comics introduced in 1966 by Warren Publishing. Like Mad, it was a black-and-white magazine intended for newsstand distribution and thus intentionally outside the control of the Comics Code Authority. Each issue’s stories were introduced by the host character, Cousin Eerie. Its sister publications were Creepy and Vampirella.

This issue includes 3 stories published in Eerie

- Tales of Peter Hypnos

- The Trespasser

- Francesca

SeulementBD (Only Comics) is a website that features a new French comic book every day. Three Sundays a month these albums are in English, mostly American ones. All of them are preceded by an introduction that gives various insights, about the authors or related to the historical context. These forewords are always in French, while the comics remain in English.

Quite often these albums feature complete series but there are also anthologies dedicated to a particular author i.e. Alex Toth, magazine i.e. The Unexpected or character i.e. Blackbow the Cheyenne. These albums are almost always presented as part of a collection entitled Bibliotheca Virtualis (Virtual Library).

Now it’s time to have a look at them !
